Welcome to PeaceConsciousness.org

PeaceConsciousness.org is an online e-zine. This publication provides both a forum for exchanging ideas related to peace, and for suggesting means, at all levels, to use in resolving differences between individuals, groups, nations, or even species. We will learn not only where we have common ground, but also learn to celebrate our differences, because those differences provide richness, diversity, and a continual flow of new ideas for us to consider.

The Contribution to Peace

I contribute to Peace when I strive to express the best of myself in my contacts with others.

I contribute to Peace when I use my intelligence and my abilities to serve the Good.

I contribute to Peace when I feel compassion toward all those who suffer.

I contribute to Peace when I look upon all men and women as my brothers and sisters, regardless of race, culture, or religion.

I contribute to Peace when I rejoice over the happiness of others and pray for their well-being.

I contribute to Peace when I listen with tolerance to opinions that differ from mine or even oppose them.

I contribute to Peace when I resort to dialogue rather than to force to settle any conflict.

I contribute to Peace when I respect Nature and preserve it for generations to come.

I contribute to Peace when I do not seek to impose my conception of God upon others.

I contribute to Peace when I make Peace the foundation of my ideals and philosophy.

Orpheus My Brother

Orpheus, Oh Orpheus,
Brother of my heart,
You were my intended
but the Fates keep us apart.

Many tests the gods demanded
When you descended here alone,
Courage filled your spirit
Your flesh, your soul, your bone.

A Path of Initiation
is not an easy task
Don't look back, my Brother
Keep your face a stoic mask.

I hide below in Hades
Until the time is ripe
When the right note on your Lyre
Vibrates with Pan's sweet pipe.

Orpheus, Oh Orpheus,
I know you did not fail
It was just you were not ready,
So first became a Tale.

When Knowledge fills your spirit
the Truth you must embrace.
Orpheus, My Dear Brother,
Until then return to Thrace.

Eurydice to Orpheus

Come ye to Hades by the dark of night,
My hearts’ door is open, my candle burns bright,

Forget not your lyre or story to sing,
A fable of fire and promise you bring,

When I returned not, they say that you failed,
I would have the truth known, but it must be veiled.

Since we first learned Egypt’s histories,
It has been the way of all Mysteries,

Truth for those with ears to hear,
Beauty for eyes that see without fear

Far from over, our story’s not done,
We live on in legend, united as one.

Night falls upon Night,
the dying embers
crumbling into ash.

Alone we sit amidst the darkling wood
Watching infinity unfold in nameless forms and circumstance.
Wordlessly it cries and stealthily sneaks in upon the sleeper:
Bathed in cool white light is pleasure primeval, uncluttered and uncluttering.
Whence comes the Sun.
From out this myriad group of cosmic wanderers one is chosen:
The Elect to warm our Night-cooled souls.

But within that day doubt that the Night had been,
and would be,
are products of the light
in our eyes blinding.

Frightened, lights are built and walls to shut out the night.
Deny, denials compounded, confounded we wander.
Waiting for that Night we yearn for and detest.

Ages piled upon ages will see the last of walls crumble into embers.
Dusking clouds float over a lonely band
gathered 'round those glowing embers, falling into ash.

Night enfolds once again her charges;
one by one her starry mantle reveals the Life so long despised and sought.
Eternity awaiting, beckons with a loving hand.
Night, decried as black
- without which no true Day is possible -
is fallen,
white with softest snowy banks
where the feast begins.

Life’s a joyous dance of flow:
Some stepping fast, some gliding slow
Some move alone, others make it a show.
But the one true beat, an internal call,
Aligns us with Source – the Eternal All.

With beats and tempos various
The pace of some is hilarious
While those who risk all live precarious.
It’s all experience; dance as you choose!
Don’t sit this one out for it’s you who will lose.

Dance and life both balance need
Which once we’ve learned we may accede
From doubt and fear we’re truly freed
To thus allow our hearts to glide
Around the floor in perfect stride.

But caution self to not allow
In puppet-style to take your bow,
If others have led you, not the sweat of your brow.
Choose wisely your dance and make it your own
Or into confusion you’ll be thrown.

Most folks look outside self for a thrill
To know their own heart they lack the will.
So this dance or that will fill the bill
Till tired and empty they curtsey and leave,
Their flowers have faded, in truth they grieve.

For the mission is not about self-indulgence
But the dancing soul in glowing effulgence
Swirls round and round the expanding conscience.
When we dance in true rhythm with the Divine
Love waltzes into your heart or mine.

Life is motion – never static.
Yes, things may sometimes seem erratic
But this I know and I’m emphatic:
God sets the Laws – there is no chance.
One day we’ll choose to conform to the Divine Dance.

So the dance of life forever goes
In upward spiral, but heaven knows
How many dance shoes will cover your toes,
Till the one true beat, an internal call,
Makes us partners with Source – the Eternal All.

I don’t believe that chaos reigns
Mid bits of quirk and quark
That law is dashed and order feigns
To conquer all that’s dark.

In the quest for what and who
Each answer found brings the awe
Of simplicity to mystify
While exposing the next layer raw.

The mystic and the scientist
Should regard themselves as friends.
Both seek truth, but with this twist:
They start at opposite ends.

The latter studies earth, sea and sky
And all that the world does hold;
The former employs an inner eye
For self-knowing and God to unfold.

In the unseen world of the sub-atom
You get probability.
Particle or Wave? One you must fathom,
Concurrence never will you see.

Newton’s physics still holds sway
With things that we can see,
But the Quantum world told of today
Denies objectivity.

The ‘thought’ of how a test will end
Affects what comes about.
Are thoughts the very things we send
To help creation out?

Gods we are in limited sense
If thought makes us like Thee.
But things at root are ‘cosmic rays’
Of vibratory energy.

All things have motion, never still,
Unable to be destroyed.
There’s push and pull with magnetic will
But naught will create a void.

Matter to be life does need
As an engine needs – a spark.
The bi-force of Nous does succeed;
Divine Mind allows life to embark.

Life on earth is endless change
As Empedocles did conclude.
So science now must rearrange
Its opinion of God misconstrued.

Thus Albert and our ancient sage
Saw order neat and nice
Deducing in their separate age
“That God does not play dice!”

Though there may be parallel planes
With theories of ‘brane’ or string,
As our truth-seeking friends make further gains
Some day in one chorus they’ll sing.

Since nothing’s new under the sun
On the path for reason and rhyme
Like Eliot’s circle where all is One
We’ll know it for the very first time.

A Mystery

Akhenaten, Nefertiti and Family Praising the Aten, 18th Dynasty Egypt
(14th century BCE)

When the one God exhales, we inhale Life
Which vibrates within thee and me.
Ubiquitous air is God’s gift free of strife,
A grace for all humanity.

If each soul on earth is a child of God
Which resides in a temple of flesh
Then we’re siblings all as this earth we trod
So why can’t we start afresh?

Why do we try to outdo each other
To gain a false upper hand?
Why not live as sister and brother
And in Peace abide in each land?

If what is Below should reflect what’s Above
We’d better get busy right now
To bring about that perfect Love
But it seems a mystery just how.

Our egos balk at giving up power,
At service to others we oft feign.
We’d rather not come from our ivory tower
Nor relinquish material gain.

We’ve worked too hard to achieve our place
Than to share with others our due.
Ah, but when in the mirror our conscience we face
We eventually see ourselves true.

That image is but a shadow of self
If what’s Above is real.
It’s time to put egos upon the shelf
And to our hearts appeal.

For the breath divine which ties us all
And animates all our cells
Urges, if we but hear the call,
Be a soldier of my Love, it tells.
